Mid-Winter 2008

Classes that are currently on the shop schedule are:

2008 Block-of-the-Month: create your own dream house using the pattern in The Blessed Home Quilt as your guide. The queen-size quilt is made a few units at a time throughout the year and embellished with simple embroidery and appliqué.
We'll meet on the third Saturday of each month from 10a.m. till 4p.m. for sewing, food, and fun! Class fee is $180 for the year, or $18 per month.

Friday Finishing: have a few unfinished projects? Or are you more like us and have a few gigantic piles of unfinished projects? Get inspired and motivated to work on them with us! Lori's lunch is included in this casual class. $15 per session.
Third Friday each month (except March which will be the second Friday). 10a.m.-4p.m.

Quilter's Ring: there are no curves in this energetic quilt design, but lots of pieced rings that give the illusion of circles. This design looks great in bright vibrant fabrics as well as vintage-look reproductions or batiks. It's made of simple shapes but the end result is anything but simplistic! $35.
Wednesdays, Jan. 30 and Feb. 6. 9a.m.-1p.m.

Mariner's Compass: we had always wanted to make one of these dramatic quilts, but were daunted by all the tiny points and the perfect roundness of it all. Well, thanks to the creative women at QuiltSmart, we can now use a pre-printed fusible interfacing (that doesn't get torn away!) to make a perfect compass without all the stress. So can you! $60 includes the fusible pattern. Kits available.
Saturdays, Feb. 2 and 9. 10a.m.-4p.m.

Cottage Christmas: Throughout the next few months we are making one block and one sashing strip per class to create our original "Cottage Christmas" sampler quilt. One of Lori's delicious gourmet lunches is included each class session!
Wednesdays, Feb. 13 and 20, March 5 and 12. 10a.m.-4p.m.

Oriental Garden: a fascinating strip-pieced border surrounds a panel of gorgeous fabric in this striking lap quilt. From the book Super Simple Triangles by Possibilities. $35 class fee.
Thursdays, Feb. 14, 21, and 28. 10a.m.-4p.m.

Glorious Garden Throw: your summer garden need not be just a memory...you'll have this gorgeous quilt to enjoy all year long. With our pre-cut floral squares and the fusible grid method, your quilt will be ready to sew in no time at all...no weeding, either! $65 includes 60 pre-cut 6" floral squares and the fusible interfacing for the large lap size quilt.
Fridays, Feb 22 and 29. 10a.m.-4p.m.

Machine Quilting I: learn to quilt all your tops that have been gathering dust in the cupboard! We'll cover the use of the walking foot and darning foot, as well as basting, thread choices, designs, marking pens, and more! A sample kit is provided in class. $35.
Saturday, Feb. 23. Noon-4p.m.

Turning Twenty Again: this simple design showcases beautiful fabrics perfectly! The big blocks are easy to sew and quick to put together. This design makes a nice throw quilt or even a shower curtain. $30 class fee includes the pattern book.
Saturday, March 8. 10a.m.-4p.m.

Plain Vanilla Quilt: the skills you learn in class will be useful for many other quilts in your future...this technique is all about quilting before your blocks are all sewn together into a top. It's a pretty quilt and it's easy, too!
Fridays, March 14 and 28. 1-4p.m.

"Run" With the Seasons: this great year-long series of classes will allow you to create a new table runner each month! Each one celebrates a holiday, season, or theme for the month. Easy pieced backgrounds are accented with machine appliquéd designs. Once you've made one, you won't want to wait a month to make another! To set a special table, there are also placemat patterns to match. Jeri Kelly's new book, Everymonth, provides the inspiration. Class fee $150 for the year or $15 per month. A kit will be available each month for $25 or you may bring your own fabrics. This class meets on a
Thursday each month beginning March 20. 10a.m.-4p.m.

Happy Villages: this captivating little quilt pattern is one of our favorite finds from Quilt Market. The village, which you can personalize with many fun details, is reminiscent of a hillside village where you might have spent a delightful vacation. Or create a fairytale castle. You'll make this in several small steps including a top layer of tulle to soften the edges. $30 includes the tulle and the pattern book.
Saturdays, March 22 and 29. 1-4p.m.

Machine Quilting II: for those of you who are comfortable with basic machine quilting, we offer this class with new designs and techniques to broaden your skills. You'll learn 9 background filler patterns and 5 freehand border patterns, including a feather cable. Your machine quilting will take a giant step forward after this class! $45 includes kit.
Saturday, April 5. Noon-4p.m.

Quilting in the Pines: join us for a great getaway at Camp Ida-Haven this spring! Our retreats are a fun way to immerse yourself in quilting for a few days...and you won't believe how much you can accomplish. The food is marvelous, the lakeside setting is inspirational, and the company is great fun! It's time to reserve your spot at the camp now. $150 covers food and lodging; classes are additional.
Sunday, May 11 through Wednesday, May 14.

See you in class!!
